Chris worked in the City of London with two of London’s leading Marine Solicitors before setting up a solicitors’ firm specialising in leisure marine work. Chris has appeared on TV and radio and has been asked to produce and present a marine law feature on Sky’s LegalTV. For some years, Chris has also written a regular monthly legal column for Motor Boat & Yachting Magazine entitled “In Brief” where Chris covers many interesting aspects of leisure marine law. Chris also ran a products liability helpline concerning a defective range of motor yachts, recovering substantial compensation for affected owners, in conjunction with Motor Boats Monthly magazine and he has been a contributor on marine law to a number of other popular publications. He also set up and ran a specialist marine magazine, Powerboat International, together with four time World Class I Powerboat Champion, Steve Curtis..
As a marine lawyer, Chris’s clients have included marine mutual insurers, P&I clubs, ship owners, charterers, freight forwarders, yacht marinas, boatyards, surveyors and individuals with a variety of claims ranging from substantial defective goods claims against yachtbuilders, to professional negligence claims against yacht surveyors and personal injury claims against marinas.
